Barbara May Simmons, age 98, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Green Acres Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant.  Barbara was born on September 25, 1916 in Gregory, Michigan, the daughter of Oliver Delano and Marjorie (Ayrault) Hammond.

    Barbara was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked for many years in the Birmingham School District.  She was a member of the Central Methodist Church in Waterford, Michigan. She enjoyed reading for a past time.

     Barbara is survived by her three sons, Dr. Paul and Janet Simmons of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Richard and Jane Simmons of Bloomfield Hill, MI and Shay Simmons of Royal Oak, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer, Neville, and Bethany Talmage, Will and Kathy Simmons; two great grandchildren, Collin and Sammy Neville;  her brother, Dale Hammond of Waterford, MI; a niece, Barbara Jean Delisi; and a nephew, Mike Hammond.  She was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Duane Hammond.
